Brendon + Sophie

Maori Elvis and his Burning Love

Just when you thought you knew someone, they go and get married and show you a complete other side to their personality. That was the case with Brendon. I've known him for a while now; a great guy, excellent work ethic, capable of putting away a swag of beers in a single bound, a real presence about him and a genuine nice guy. He even let me borrow his PS2 with Buzz! game for a while. That means we're good friends right? Right?

It wasn't until the day of the wedding that I saw something in Brendon I'd never seen before. He's a real family man. I mean a 'real' family man. It's his priority. It's like everything else I've known about him is just a means to an end. That end being the support of his immediate family and now his new family. This really taught me about how perceptions of people are just that. It's only when you truly get to know them do you know where they've come from and what they've been through.

I cried at this wedding. I cried when I heard the path he has walked and how he met Sophie and how things changed for him. I cried both inside and outside. I changed inside. He'll never understand how but this day was special for me, in a different way than it was special for them.

Congrats to you both, all over again. :)
